Your photos hold memories – but the stories behind them are what bring those memories to life. Here is one of my stories:

This was always my favorite photo from my parents’ wedding album. I remember seeing it when I was a kid growing up in Ohio, then not again for a couple of decades when my parents’ album was “lost” (it actually was in a box at my brother’s house in North Carolina, “rediscovered” in the late 2010s!). My parents got married on June 19, 1965, and this photo was taken at their reception at Leonard’s of Great Neck (on Long Island, New York, and the venue still hosts weddings today!). I love the vintage cars in the background, how regal my parents look, and the majestic staircase that showcased the train of my mom’s wedding dress. The dress itself also has special meaning to me, as it was worn by my grandmother, Ann, at her wedding in January 1942; her sister Jane at her wedding in March 1942; my mom in 1965, and finally me, when I got married in June 1995! This photo was an inspiration for what I wanted my wedding to be like, and I was so happy when I was able to get it scanned and preserved in the late 2010s!

Don’t just save your photos. Save the stories, before it’s too late.
